Day 150 of 365 Day Challenge

I used a little kiddies app to do this manipulation, DrawingCarl. You can draw with patterns so I blended two sets of patterns to get this:

Other apps: iColorama, Superimpose, Aerograph, Stackables

Day 148 of 365 Day Challenge

Went on a hike today to Tai Lam Country Park. It was a lovely walk but incredibly hot. We saw an amazing number of insects and creatures and it is times like this that I really miss a proper camera. Just can't get close enough and the pictures occasionally come out blurred. One of my fellow hikers took a proper camera and her pictures were awesome. Anyhow today's photo is a toad but if I had got a better picture, it would have been the stick insect. I have never seen such a big one, it must have been a foot long. We also saw blue dragonflies, bright orange moths and hairy black and white caterpillars.

Day 146 of 365 Day Challenge

Macau

Macau is the mystery place and I hadn't heard of it either until I came to Hong Kong. It used to be a Portuguese colony until it was handed over to China in 1999.

It is visited mainly for two reasons, it's old Portuguese sector with old colonial buildings and it's casinos. It is the Las Vegas of Asia and fast becoming even more spectacular. The biggest complex is the Venetian built in 2007, a massive hotel, casino and shopping complex modelled around Venice. Almost complete is the new mega resort Caesar's Palace and more are going up although the gambling revenues declined for the first time in 2014.

Day 144 of 365 Day Challenge

The opulence of the interiors of some of these buildings in this mystery place is quite amazing:

Day 143 of 365 Day Challenge

I'm away for the weekend but do you know where I am from this picture?

I did think the fig leaf here rather unconvincing.

Day 141 of 365 Day Challenge

I've been working at home all day making jewellery for myself so I decided that today's photo would have to be a photo manipulation of one of the pieces I have made.

Apps: Hipstamatic, Snapseed, iColorama

Here is the original picture taken in the iPhone Hipstamatic app:

Day 138 of 365 Day Challenge

Time for another selfie. It never ceases to amaze me how different each one comes out. Believe me, they do not look like me by the end! Who needs a model!

I used Snapseed to crop and Facetune to enhance but it was was done mainly in iColorama with one blend done with a Mobile Monet version.

Day 137 of 365 Day Challenge

We went to breakfast at The Pawn in Wan Chai (I posted a picture of the building on day 101). It has been recently renovated and the 1st floor is a lovely bar and the second floor a restaurant. It looks as if they are making the top floor a roof terrace although it wasn't open when we went.

I loved the casual but chic decor and there is seating outside on the verandah which has roof fans. I have to say that it was very pricey but the food and service were excellent. On a shelf near the kitchen, sat two nutcrackers and this just had to be my picture. I have also included one picture of a section of the restaurant.

Apps: Taken with Hipstamatic, tuned in Snapseed, Border in iColorama and Textured in Stackables.

Day 135 of 365 Day Challenge

I popped into Pacific Place today and discovered that they have an exhibition celebrating French shoes. I particularly like the old styles with the beautiful embroidery and buckles so that's today's photograph. The shoes were extracted using Superimpose and blended one by one in iColorama using a photo of the buckles as a backgound. Still in iColorama I added the text and blended the result with one of my own textures.

Day 134 of 365 Day Challenge

I'm back in Hong Kong and went for a lovely stroll up to the Peak with a group of my friends. I should have been taking pictures on the way up but was enjoying nattering too much. Later I found myself at the IFC mall with only a few photos so I took some photos of the quirky flower arrangements which proved difficult to manipulate in an interesting way - just too busy. Anyhow, here is the result. The manipulation was done in SketchClub and iColorama.

Day 130 of 365 Day Challenge

My last day on the farm. A leisurely start and then a lovely stroll through the bluebell wood and up to the cow pastures. I could get use to this. So is the picture bluebell wood or cows?? I have never seen such a beautiful bluebell wood and it's a shame the sun wasn't out but I'm rather fond of cows so it will have to be a cow pic with the bluebell wood included below.

Day 129 of 365 Day Challenge

Took a trip with my friend, Libby, down to Lyme Regis on the coast, a lovely town full of interesting little shops and great places to eat and for me one of the prettiest coastal towns in England. It was made famous by the film The French Lieutenant's Woman.

As expected there were a fair number of gulls on the scrounge for scraps, as brazen as anything so I sat next to a family eating some sandwiches and snapped away madly in the hope that I might get an unusual photo.

It's always exciting getting home and going through my camera roll to see what I got and I was not disappointed! So today is a gull with some additional photos of the town.

Main photo taken with Camera+ and cropped and tuned in Snapseed. Other photos taken in Hipstamatic and also tuned in Snapseed.

Day 128 of 365 Day Challenge

I'm in Dorset this weekend staying with special friends on their farm and soaking up the wonderful vistas.

We went to see the birth place of Thomas Hardy in Bockhampton, taking a walk through the tranquil woods to the quaint cottage. The woods were full of ferns still unfurling and gorgeous bluebells. Choosing today's photo I was spoilt for choice so I decided to let my friends make the decision and they settled on the fern and insect. I have included a couple of the others all taken with Hipstamatic and edited in Snapseed. A slight change was made to the house photo to remove some scaffolding using Handy Photo.

I'm overdosing on lovely flowers here in the UK. Visited a friend and she had these beautiful carnations.

Day 124 of 365 Day Challenge

Went for a lovely walk on Esher Common in Surrey today. Clicked away madly at all the wildflowers. Still a lot of beautiful bluebells around but strangely one of my favourites is Queen Anne's Lace. I can't resist using this in manipulations so that's today's pic.

Apps: Snapseed, DistressedFX, Stackables, iColorama, Superimpose
