Online Courses at Artful Gathering

Thought it was about time that I looked at doing some online courses.  I was looking at some of the courses at Artful Gathering and liked the look of Diana Mulder's class so I had a look on her website.  I found an interesting blog post she did a while back where she used the online software picnik which unfortunately is no longer available.  I love what she did with her botanicals but she said that she felt that she should go further and did anyone have any ideas.  Well, that's like putting a red flag to a bull so I copied the leaves (see post) that she posted and did a bit of messing around with it in Photoshop Elements.  So Diana, here are the results.

The manipulations became so complex in the end that I'm sorry I can't show you how I did it. For example, in the manipulation below I have shown all the different layers.  They all have different blend modes.

  1. Hi Ann,
Wow, I do remember that picture. It was so long ago. How nice to see how you took it further. That's kind of what I had in mind, a little more to it. I use the online program, Picmonkey which replaced Picnik and Gimp now, too. It's a necessity to know your way around these programs these days. Sometimes when I'm almost finished with a piece and don't know what to do next, I'll look at it in one of these programs and "play" without messing with the original. I hope you find a workshop that fits you and thank you for sharing!

  2. Hello Diana,
I skimmed through your blog from beginning to end and was fascinated by the transformation in your style. I love what you are doing now (although also love some of your earlier watercolours too). I am intrigued by your use of plaster of paris. Always looking for ways of progressing my manipulations. I have just moved to Hong Kong so not sure how easy it will be to get the supplies I need.
