Day 302 of 365 Day Challenge

At last an opportunity to go back to Repulse Bay in Hong Kong to get some photos of the temple there. With loads of statues, bright colours and mosaics it's rather different!

Day 301 of 365 Day Challenge

Still trying multiple exposures with Hipstamatic and it's quite difficult to get a good photo. You need to place dark areas of the first photo in an area where the focus of the second photo will be. Here is today's attempt.

Apps: Hipstamatic, Snapseed

Day 300 of 365 Day Challenge

I went walking with a friend today and we discovered this beautiful little chappy on the ground. I could see he was still breathing but he must have been injured because the ants were already getting to him.

Day 299 of 365 Day Challenge

I went into Wan Chai today specifically to take photographs and just as I was almost in Wan Chai I realised that I had left my phone charging at home! I have to say that it is very seldom that I do this but I changed my bag today and spent ages getting all my paraphernalia together and ended up forgetting the most important thing. Oh well, I consoled myself with a grande coffee at my favourite coffee shop so I am afraid the best I have today is a multiple exposure from my favourite corner of the coffee shop using Hipstamatic and the lens Florence and film Sussex. I then tweaked it in Snapseed and added a slight vignette.

Day 298 of 365 Day Challenge

I have been so busy on my travels lately that I feel I have neglected my photography. The change with Hipstamatic caught me off balance and I feel my photos of the past month have been mediocre and uninspired. So I decided that I needed to do some experimentation with the new Hipstamatic 300 and see if I could solve my problems. I think the defects in my photos may be caused by the one lens I am using and I need to find a new favourite. Also, I've never used the multiple exposure option and decided to give it a try.

I ended up going out too late in the afternoon and it was already getting dark but I enjoyed testing the multiple exposure option and will keep having a go with this during the week. I think there is great potential for getting some interesting shots.

The following photo was a blend of two multiple exposures taken in Hipstamatic and blended in iColorama. A vignette was then added in Phototoaster with some tweaking in Snapseed.

Day 295 of 365 Day Challenge

I took this photo selfie directly with the AremaC app. I just wish the resolution was a bit better. Improved the vibrancy in iColorama.

Day 294 of 365 Day Challenge

It's a holiday today and my hubby and I went for a walk along Bowen Road in Hong Kong. Here is a photo looking down on Happy Valley and the racecourse.

Day 293 of 365 Day Challenge

Back in Hong Kong! It's so great having my own high speed internet access again which has enabled me to finally get my daily photos up to date. I'm still frustrated with the problems with the new version of Hipstamatic and have been using Procamera most of the time instead. How we I took a couple of photos today with Hipstamatic and converted them using the new Shanghai Pack which I absolutely love. Here is the Jing+Gongbi combination with no additional manipulation!

Day 290 of 365 Day Challenge

I'm on a two day course and as we are pretty much all day in the training room, I've decided to take a photo each day of the trainer's rescue dogs.

Day 288 of 365 Day Challenge

I had my hair cut short today and realised later that the only photo I took for this day was a selfie so it required radical treatment:

Day 281 of 365 Day Challenge

Our trip to Barcelona has become a real Gaudi pilgrimage and here is another of his buildings, La Pedrera, which we saw today. The first two shots are of the iconic and imposing chimney stacks. Then a model of the building itself which is in the attic and shows the wonderful arched roof structure. Finally a photo of part of the ceiling in the foyer of the building.

Day 280 of 365 Day Challenge

We visited the Museum of National Art in Barcelona and outside was a tour guide shepherding her flock so I couldn't resist using her as my main photo today but the next photos show the building itself.

Day 279 of 365 Day Challenge

Oh I just love Barcelona and I am just such a massive fan of the architect Gaudi. He was just way ahead of his time. The Sagrada Familia is just the most awe inspiring structure. The inside is just a marvel and as a I love nature, Gaudi's use of nature in his work is just totally up my street. Here you can see the pillars are like branches of a tree with leaves at the top. He wanted people to feel like they were walking through a forest. Gaudi was also big into using natural light and his stain glass windows enhance the architecture even more.

Here is some of the detail on the metal doors into the cathedral.

Day 278 of 365 Day Challenge

I'm in Barcelona today. We had to get up at 3.30am to get the flight so we are a bit all over the show today. We just did a relaxed wander through the gothic part of the town and I couldn't resist using a piece of graffiti as my main photo as I knew the next couple of days would be full of the wonderful photos of buildings.

Day 276 of 365 Day Challenge

It's been more than a year and a half since I last played at my old course, West Hill in Surrey. It was a sublime day and it was just lovely being out on the course.

Day 273 of 365 Day Challenge

We are back in the UK this morning and today was one of those manic days. It ended with my hubby and I rushing up to London to meet with friends. We got back to Waterloo and I realised that I hadn't taken any photos so I took a couple of photos of the big clock  at Waterloo station  because it ruled my life for so many years. Every day after work I used to wait for my husband under the clock and then we would take the train home.

Well when I came to looking at the photos, I realised they really weren't good at all and the new version of Hipstamatic has been adding horrible chromatic aberrations to photos with intense light. So firstly I had to get rid of this in SketchClub by just painting over the areas with white. I then took the photo into Snapseed to tune it a bit and really it was just a nothing photo so it was into iColorama to do some extreme deforming. I finally cropped it to create a better composition and then applied a lomo effect.
